The annual guide of the Vienna Regional Health Insurance Fund (Wiener Gebietskrankenkasse - WGKK) gives you a comprehensive overview of the benefits the WGKK provides for you and your dependants.

The Vienna Regional Health Insurance Fund (WGKK) will be 150 years old this year. It has seen and survived politically turbulent times. And it has always taken care of its insured persons – almost 1.7 million customers today – consistently and reliably.

This current guide by the WGKK gives you a comprehensive overview of the benefits the WGKK provides for you and your dependants – everything from maternity benefit to dentures.

This social security has already become a matter of fact for many people in this country: after all, 99.9 percent of the population is covered by social health insurance. Its underlying principle of solidarity ensures that sickness does not become an insurmountable cost factor. We will do everything in our power to keep true to this principle, as this means that everybody has access to comprehensive health provision - irrespective of individual income. In many countries with private health insurance systems, on the other hand, health problems quickly turn into financial problems.

In contrast, social health insurance institutions, including the WGKK, provide easy access to comprehensive benefits. A big city like Vienna poses particular challenges: these include, at times, a significant negative impact on people’s health and ever-increasing expenses – such as for drugs. The WGKK has to face these challenges – with the aim that you as an insured person do not feel any negative effects and can still, as always, enjoy all benefits you need to stay in good health.

As the largest health insurance institution in Austria, the WGKK takes care of about 1.3 million insured persons and about 448,000 dependants. With our health facilities and branches, we are aiming to make an important contribution to the health provision of all Viennese. It is our aim to be competent in health matters and to improve customer satisfaction through more information, local support and continuously expanding services.

In this context, we would like to point out our online services, which can be found under the heading of “meineSV”.
